District competition in Lansing at Mason High School

3/28/2016

Our second season competition was March 24-26th at Mason High School in Lansing.  This time we came with a climbing arm on our robot ready to score some extra points!  Once again we did really well and fought our way to 1st place after all qualifying matches!! Excited
to be in the 1st seed spot!  Big thanks to our alliance partners, team 2612 The Corsairs and team 1504 Desperate Penguins.

Losing in the quarterfinals due to a few malfunctions was discouraging, but our spirits rose as we won the Industrial Design Award sponsored by General Motors! What an honor to win an award that celebrates form and function in an efficiently designed machine that effectively addresses the game challenge.

A few weeks later after all Michigan district competitions were finished, we found that we qualified to move on to the State Championships!  Onward to Grand Rapids!

We learned more from our challenges during the weekend and once again went on to regroup, make some changes and get ready for States!

Our first competition of the season was at Kettering University from March 10-12th.  We came out strong and ended up in 5th after all qualifying matches.  3rd seed alliance captains.
Big thanks to our alliance partners - Team 4362 Gems and Team 6073 The Cav-Bots.

Sadly, we lost in the quarter finals, but it was a great start to the season!  This gave us ideas on what to improve with our robot as well as a starting experience for our rookie driver and operator.
We were very excited to win the Excellence in Engineering Award sponsored by Delphi for our robot!!
We were honored to win the award that celebrates an elegant and advantageous machine feature.
